2010~Present: 21st Century Initiatives and Master Planning

Growth and development of CPS are directly a result in sustained commitment and continuity of the Board of Directors, administration, faculty and staff. The Board of Directors in its continuing efforts to support CPS and remain competitive; initiated a Master Plan for the Parkville Campus by renovating the entire campus during the summer of 2012. It involved expanding the library, adding several new classrooms including two computer laboratories, and renovating the entrance patio providing a much improved drop-off and pick-up area for parents. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in November, 2012, and was well attended by members of the Board of Directors, faculty, staff, administration, neighbors, construction company representatives, and architects.

In 2013, CPS saw a change in leadership with the retirement of Richard Marracino, who was Headmaster at CPS for over 20 years. Under his leadership, the school underwent a period of growth and positive changes. As a tribute, the Endowment Fund has been named the Richard Marracino Endowment Fund. 

During this second decade of the 21st Century, CPS is enthusiastically prepared with renewed efforts to maintain its strong academic reputation. CPS has achieved significant recognition and success in creative programming, solid and systematic exposure to ethics and values, a dramatic increase in the number of AP courses, on-line learning opportunities, and stellar college acceptances. The list of co-curricular activities and clubs is extensive, and includes, among others, dance, art, music including instruments, sewing and knitting, Lego (Bricks for Kids), competitive and intramural sports, drama, band, robotics, forensics, oratoria, Model United Nations, and Interact. CPS organized the Puerto Rico Scripps Spelling Bee for over thirty years until 2016 which provided opportunities for students from private and public schools island-wide. The Network of Complementary Schools provides opportunities for students from the United States mainland and Canada to conduct student exchanges with CPS, the only school in Puerto Rico with membership.

Leadership opportunities for CPS students at all levels are endless. Graduating students from CPS possess high levels of ability and confidence, a true Comets legacy. The word is out in the general community that CPS is a high quality college preparatory school with an engaging and challenging academic, yet caring environment. As a result, the enrollment of CPS has increased dramatically from 550 in 1996 to close to 700 today, attesting to the faith and trust that parents, students, and faculty have in our school. CPS in 2012 graduated the only male student in Puerto Rico honored with the Presidential Scholar Award prior to his entrance at Princeton University. And in 2014, CPS was the only school to have both a male and female advance to the U.S. Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalists selection : Elisa Benítez and Daniel Rodríguez with Daniel Rodríguez becoming the male 2014 U.S. Presidential Scholar representing Puerto Rico in Washington DC.
